Visiting Paris with toddlers (day 2): From the Champs Elysées to the Ile de Cité

On Sunday the unrest in Paris seemed to have disappeared and damage was getting cleaned up. As a result we headed to the Champs Elysées to visit the area that had been unavailable the day before due to the gilet jaunes riots.

Similarly as the day before we didn't notice much.   There were some left over crush barriers that probably were pretty ineffective the day before, and in one street there were empty tear gas capsules in the gutter. Later in the afternoon I've noticed in 2 separate shopping quarters some road construction barriers overturned and a total of 3 shopping windows scattered. You had to pay attention to notice. All in all it seemed a normal relax Sunday morning in the French capital.

We walked at ease from the Champs Elysees across the Tuileries to the Louvre courtyards.  We lined up next to the other tourists all posing the same funny postures to go on Instagram or whatever "touching" the Louvre pyramid.  In a way that silly sight of a line of people posing for selfies was more interesting to observe than the well known monuments.

After a lunch near the city hall we walked along the Seine again and headed to the Ile de Cité to see the Notre Dame. Just like when I first saw the famous cathedral for the first time, the pigeons on the square turned out more interesting to the children than the monument :p.

And then it was time to return to the metro, much to the excitement of the children because the metro came in 2nd place of fun after the Eifel Tower during our weekend.  This time there were no outages or closures on the network and well in time we made it back to the hotel   to head to the train station to return back home.
