Made in Belgium: Wim De Craene

In Belgium they always broadcast the RIP 50 hitparade with music of dead artists on All Saints day (public holiday).  One of them that should be in the list is Wim De Craene. He was a singer song writer mainly succesful in the 70ies. He took suicide in '90 and got more recognition after his death

Made in Belgium: Puggy

Puggy is a group I just bumped into and that I'd like to get to know better. The group with a French, English, Swedish band member who met in Antwerp are quite succesful in the south of Belgium but less in the north.  Ah one of those groups we really need to appreciate more.  I really enjoy this first impression on them

Made in Belgium: Soulwax

Last Saturday we went out for dinner with friends in Ghent and it was so good to be there again.  Yesterday I saw the Dewaele brothers in a talkshow  so I thought I'd feature these talents from Ghent again.

yes "again" because I featured their DJ project already here with their fun online radio.

But before they started DJing (apparently they were bored after their concerts and didn't like the music played in the clubs they visited), they were already famous because of Soulwax.  It balances between rock and dance.

I do think they are now global stars though through 2ManyDJ's more than through Soulwax.

You've been ousted as mayor

A constant stream of people walking on and off in the neighborhood
with a white note in the hand,
Some old lady strongly supported by family,
2 families chatting on the sidewalk,
The scouts selling some fresh pumpkin soup,
...I can't help finding going (mandatory) voting something social & cosy

Everyone on twitter & FB posting when they fulfilled their voting duty,
commenting on the waiting time
and reassuring they voted "on the best"

Results come in showing no true surprises
since trends & sentiments had been picked up already by polls beforehand
and been over analysed until we were all dreaming all one-liners & pro's and con's

At the end of the evening nobody lost and everyone lost, depending who's talking
* because they showed the biggest progress compared to other parties (even though they only end up third or so)
* because they are the biggest party (regardless they lost a significant amount of seats)
* because they really didn't do as bad as everybody predicted in these difficult times(but of course they didn't have a good result at all)
* because they are the only party that showed progress in so many towns (even tiny and not influential anywhere)

Elections: it's a win win!  (almost)

Made in Belgium: De Mens

There was a time that I knew Frank Vanderlinden better as a regular guest in talk shows and quizzes than as a musician. I appreciated his authenticy, his sense of humor...and oh yeah I knew he had a group as well. Only in recent years I learned to appreciate his music more. And that was about time. Top music, guts to bring rock in Dutch, ... and from the area of Leuven :)

Made in Belgium: Kiss and Drive

A singer song writer from Brussels, rather unknown in Flanders and that seems a shame! Don't be so hard No one

Hanging out with my sister's family

Yesterday my sister, brother-in-law and nephew also came to Plankendael and strolled with us through the park for a few hours. Fun!
(yes our family uniform is blue & red ;) )
