Weekend in Milan

After the conference in Italy more than 2 weeks ago, we profited of the last flight for me in quite some months to spend the weekend in Milan. Jan flew in and we cruised 2 days through the very hot city center.   Too hot to do much for sure.   We limited ourselves strolling in and around the piazza di Duomo and the Castello and the nearby shopping streets and exploring the wider city on the hop on hop off busses.

Made in Belgium: X-session

I heard this oldie on the radio this morning and the DJ claimed it always brought a big smile on his face..."right on, I have a big smile on my face now too". So hopefully it does for you as well :)

X-cession is a very typical 90ies dance-pop group that brings back so many flashbacks when listening to their many hits. Currently Gene Thomas, the male singer of X-cession , has a solo career with  Dutch non-dance music.

A conference in a beautiful place

Since Heineken is a global firm, our yearly global IT conference doesn't always need to be in the Netherlands :)...We had the joy to spend a few days in an airco basement conference room near the stunning Laggo Maggiore earlier this month.   Ok, I exaggerate, we also had social networking time where we could enjoy the beautiful surroundings.  Glad I could be part of it again :)

Just add grass and some plants

I announced the garden make-over a couple of weeks ago and good work has been done in the mean time.
Our garden usage used to focus purely on the piece at the front door because the backside was a collection of bits of terrace, collapsing walls, slopes, piles of dirt and some pieces of grass in between all of that....none of that you could actually use and enjoy.   After a lot of thinking we came with the plan to make it clean and simple in just 2 levels: an upper street/terrace level and a lower level: all usable and well bordered space.   And so we got it.  And all of a sudden we have 3 times the space in the back compared to the front. yeay.

So now we just need to get grass & some plants added and we can enjoy the summer .

Irish wedding

2 weekends ago, with a "little detour" from my weekly commute back from Amsterdam and just before I went to Milan   (cfr travel madness)  I had the honor to attend my Irish colleague's wedding in Dublin.
I spent about 18 h in Dublin, just enough to join a good party :).   Jan was unfortunately experiencing a bit of same travel madness as me, but not compatible to my agenda, so he couldn't make it to the wedding.  But I had a fun Heineken clan to hang-out with so I was in good company.

Once again congratulations to the couple that was shining with happiness.

We also got treated to some superb Irish dancing by the junior world champion...after which the bride happily joined tapping...

...and we all joined the dancefloor.
