We keep on turning #we draaien door : Taylor Swift - We are never ever gonna get back together

 

Each Tuesday and Thursday Anne from Satur9's World  play a musical pingpong game where we choose a new music song based on each other's previous choice by association of a name, style, lyric, style, location or whatever crosses in our mind.  We never know what the next song will be chosen and are forced to explore beyond our comfort zone due to each other's choices. 

Wow, Anne managed to throw something completely unknown back at me again this week.  What the hell was this: Money (that's what I want) from The flying lizards.  What an ugly song in a very intriguing video clip.  And there is something very mesmerizing in this song that makes it attractive in its ugliness.  I really love the avant-gardiness in this 

The most obvious associations are the numerous songs about money that exist

• Money for nothing - Dire  Straits 
• Money money money - ABBA
• Money - Cardi B
• Money - Barrett Strong

But bleh, that didn't feel a cool association to make. Too easy. 

Some googling learned that the Flying Lizards had been on the original soundtrack of Charlie's Angels so I could go to Ariana Grande - How I Look On You (Charlie’s Angels Soundtrack) . But this seemed to far fetched. 

The avant garde and monotonous sound made me think of Rendez- Vous of Pas de Deux.  Ah brilliant, that would really fit. But they don't seem to have a fun video clip so I hesitated to let them march on the Eurovision songfestival podium. 

No what I really wanted was find a video that was in the style of this one.   But you can't google "video in this style" easily so that was a struggle . Finally I found some that were shot in one go and featured living rooms or scenery were bands are playing in the weirdest places and the singers move along in the different scenes.  I came up with the following cool video's.

• Metronomy - Love letters
• Taylor Swift - We are never gonna get back together

Well Taylor Swift with the female singer and the band in the living room etc seems the best fit even though the song isn't very post -punk anymore.
