White Christmas

We love to spend the time between Christmas and New Year in the east of Belgium and each year we cross our fingers to get some snow. The last years we've been out of luck so it had been a long time since we've experienced some snow. The forecasts this year are very promising. Above 600m Belgium even received a white Christmas. Not loads of it yet, and on the trails it was immediately melted away but the boglands were covered with 5 to 10cm of snow. Our little get-away isn't at 600m but we are close so after spending Christmas Eve with my mother at home, we left on Christmas in time to go and experience some of the white stuff on Dec 25th.  Spotting the full parking lots we were not the only ones in the small area around signal de Botragen (Belgium's highest point) with snow but once out in nature it was all quite ok and fun.

Thinking of it, this is the first ever (partial) white Christmas in my life! I don't believe I've ever had snow on Christmas before. I had assumed this would happen to me when living in Canada but we spent the Christmas holidays in rainy Vancouver :D....so I had a long white winter there except for Christmas.

Oh, heerlijk!
