We keep on turning #wedraaiendoor: BAP - Kristalnaaach

Each Tuesday and Thursday Anne from Satur9's World and myself, play a musical pingpong game where we choose a new music song based on each other's previous choice by association of a name, style, lyric, style, location or whatever crosses in our mind. We never know what the next song will be chosen and are forced to explore beyond our comfort zone due to each other's choices.

You can find our in the mean time long and fun playlist on Spotify and op Youtube. Subscribing to it is possible!

Nick Lowe loves the sound of broken glass.  Immediately I had an association with The Scabs who were robbing the liquor store. But I realised that that doesn't mean there is a sound of broken glass.

So I was stuck a bit with glass and with sounds:

  • Glass animals - heat waves
  • Elton John - Hour Glass
  • Rascal Flatts - I Like the Sound of That

The song also made me think of:

Elvis Costello - Love Peace & understanding

But all of a sudden all that sound of broken glass, made me think of Kristalnacht.  That's called the night of broken glass. And I couldn't let go anymore, so I searched for music about this historic horror.

  • BAP - Kristalnaaach
  • Hal Freedman - Kristalnacht ( Night of broken glass)

BAP is quite rough, unpolished which sounds appropriate. Also that it is a German band singing on this topic seems appropriate.  It was recorded as a warning for political events a decade ago.
And it is sourly appropriate and relevant after this week's election results.   I wish I could post a more upbeat song this week, but this is the most fitting song for sure.
