We keep on turning #wedraaiendoor : Tommy Cash - Espresso macchiato
Each Tuesday and Thursday Anne from Satur9's World and myself, play a musical pingpong game where we choose a new music song based on each other's previous choice by association of a name, style, lyric, style, location or whatever crosses in our mind. We never know what the next song will be chosen and are forced to explore beyond our comfort zone due to each other's choices.
You can find our in the mean time long and fun playlist on Spotify and op Youtube. Subscribing to it is possible!
Oh I am in such a good mood with Anna's Vamos a la playa...It's such a great feel good summer song. Well so it seems because in fact it isn't at all. It's a song about a beach after a nuclear disaster. But that doesn't prevent the whole world to act silly and dance happily on this song.
I spent a lot of time searching for Spanish or Italian summer songs or English ones that seemed totally happy but were deep down touching serious society issues... That was hard. Either I found plenty of Beach / Summer things or I found serious songs. But I didn't find the mix I wanted.
- Vaya con Dios - Una Mujer
- the Beach Boys
- Suarez & Alice on the roof - L'amour à la plage
- Blondie - Atomic
- Ultravox - dancing with tears in my eyes
- Counting crows - einstein on the beach
- Nena : 99 luftballons
I had to make a choice and chose for plane summer fun without deeper meaning. We're at the start of the vacation period after all.
So instead of 2 Italians singing silly in Spanish...I chose an Estonian singing silly in English/ Italian about Italian clichés. I heard it during the Eurovision songcontest and said "here's our summer earwurm". Indeed, it's one of the only songs making it into the hitparade and getting some radio airplay. And I heard a group of teenagers recently walking by on the sidewalk singing Espresso Macchiato out loud.
and I just smile. It's so over the top funny.
(oh and Anne...we have a very very recent song in our chain for once)
