Briefly at Beleuvenissen

The end of July was whimsical...the weather was at least. Lots of heavy showers that made planning outdoor activities a bit challenging, but at least the temperatures between the downpours were nice.

Fatigue and rain predictions caused us to stay at home yet another weekend...the 3rd one that we didn't drive to the east of Belgium.  But the flip part of staying in Leuven was the fact that we could go and see Beleuvenissen.   There wasn't much on the agenda that interested me, but it's always nice to stroll down and pass along the concerts casually.

First we profited of a Thai dinner in the Muntstraat in Leuven, a tiny street that is almost completely filled with restaurants of all kind.  We enjoyed a full menu that was very tasty.

After dinner, we headed into town to see some of the concerts and stages. First we headed to the Big Market where the city of Leuven had given the stage to pro-Palestinian organizations to draw a red line against the genocide in Gaza.  In the past days, the city had projected a big Palestinian flag on the city hall. Usually I am not an activist at all, but now I wanted to fill the crowd. While I do feel I was part of a political game between the Belgian political parties in the government that disagree on how to take a stand against Israel, civil pressure now is needed to convince the politicians to act.

We left after a while though, as I didn't feel too comfortable with the speeches on stage...well I guess I wasn't feeling comfortable in general.  While we hobbled to the next square to listen to a music band that Jan knew from his student period, I felt nausea from eating too much. I had literally eaten myself sick and didn't feel physical space to breathe or digest.  Jan enjoyed him self and sent pictures to old-time friends about the band, but I escaped to the Pope College nearby to stretch on the stairs in more solitude and breathe.  Because Jan didn't want to stay there on his own, he came to check upon me and decided to go home with me. It felt quite disappointing that we had not be able to enjoy Beleuvenissen now we had the opportunity to hang out without children.  I mumbled that probably with some time I'd start to feel better again but we ended up going home and stretch out in bed with some Rennies.   Well I guess I did enjoy dinner out until it was too much of it :).

The sunset in the Pope College was nice
