I am old

Now that I've added a new year to my experience, I can no longer pretend I'm young, although some parents don't always realise I am more than a decade older than them.

In the inspiration of Lieze, I list some things that show my age:

1) When I travel, I sometimes bring my own pillow.

I really value my sleep so I hate flat soft pillows that kill your neck and your sleep.  So I have a tiny strong pillow or an inflatable ben. When I drive somewhere, it's easy enough to throw it in the car.  For air travel it depends on the space left in the luggage.

2) I curse for all evening appointments and activities that will keep me awake beyond 10PM

Seriously, don't other people need to sleep as well.  There is no fun in feeling tired, yawning and feeling obliged to remain social.
The idea of spoiling myself is nowadays promising myself to go to bed early.

3)  I don't pick up new social media trends anymore

Until 10 years ago, I considered myself an early adaptor (I was one of the first 50 Belgian users on Facebook in May 2008!  I swear) and knowledgeable of digital trends.

But right now I couldn't care less about reels, TikTok, views, ...

4) I like to return to places that I already know for vacation.

I don't feel the urge to discover new area's all the time anymore. Just enjoying a location that I've enjoyed before, relive the moment and relaxing.  No more FOMO, but YOMO.

5) I have reading glasses

And I have some in my purse, some in the living room in Leuven, some near my bed and some in the east of Belgium.

6) I'm not invited for the high school reunion anymore.
Apparently it stops after 30 years....

7) I think I've slept in when I wake up at 8 AM

8) I'm no longer to win discussions...I more often now think "oh I'm right but I don't have the energy to convince you, it's not worth it."

9 ) My best weekends are those with a silent walk in the woods. Ha, my teenager past would have thought I was crazy (and boring, and old, ...)

10) I start to understand why older ladies wear pants with an elestic waist band... (nope, not wearing them yet).  I did give up on wearing heals entirely though.

And what about you? are you old?
