Count your blessings - August 2026
- Spending a weekend in the east of Belgium with the entire family (unlike the previous weekends without the boys).
- A hedgehog walking through the garden at dusk
- Having a big paella pan delivered at home
- Plenty of tomatoes ripening
- Taking the train to De Panne
- Spending a week at the beach in hot great weather
- Sunset at the beach
- Observing the 90% sun eclipse
- Seafood dinners near the beach
- Fireworks
- Swimming in the sea at a record breaking heat day
- Visiting the Hop museum and Talbot House in Popering and attending the Last Post again in Ypres
- Getting reunited with Rodin after 9 days apart
- The solidarity and help from all over Europe to work on the horrible fire in the High Fenns in Belgium
- Rain!!! Although I hate rain during my vacation break, now I was so relieved to see a forecast with daily rain showers returning! We needed so much that rain, we still do
- Knowing my ex-collague volunteered with his fire brigade at the High Fenns and getting some pictures there.
- Visiting the Bastogne War Museum and the Fox holes
- A gorgeous rainbow above the fire and then storm plagues east of Belgium. They need some hope.
- Celebrating the 50th birthday of a good friend and seeing many old acquaintances again
- Spending a day with a friend, going on a nice walk and reconnect with her friends I had not seen in the last 15 years
- Seeing the renovation works at my mother's house progressing smoothly.
- Hanging out at the renewi tour in Leuven
- Sitting and read a book to finish
- Going out for drinks with ex-colleague or a relative, ...
- Having a large harvest of home-grown tomatoes in our garden.
- Signing a job contract
This is a monthly list of simple things in my life that make me happy or that make me smile.
