Enjoying good delivered / take-out food
The last days you hear experts claiming that the promised date of reopening restaurants at May 1st might not be feasible. I understand their opinion when looking at hospital data. But it must be devestating for all those who work in the restaurant business.
I also hear that our "support" from getting lots of take-away etc is shrinking away. I complained to YAB that top restaurants don't offer a weekly menu anymore because there is simply not enough demand anymore. She responded with a long list of take-away inspiration around Leuven as she is the true expert but my comment still stands that the top restaurants don't have each weekend a menu anymore. For smaller bistro that's different. And I admit that we have slowed down a bit as well. Even in these times where we all need to spoil ourselves a little now and then, the joy of good take-away wears out as well. So many plastic or cardboard boxes to unpack...
But...
When I hear a testimony from top restaurant in Latem that their Easter menu was ordered zero times...zero, my heart breaks. So let's try to continue spending some of our money that doesn't get spend in city trips etc to local businesses nevertheless. We can do this!
For Easter itself there was a lot of choice again and since we were in the extended weekend in the east of Belgium we took away from La Menuiserie. She also claimed that it was a lot more quiet than previous weekends but fortunately I did see multiple boxes waiting for someone to pick up so I hope they are doing ok. I surely enjoyed this little treat on a festive day that feels less festive since not shared with other relatives etc.
