Rain and melting snow with a touch of Christmas spirit

Last weekend we spent in quarantaine since Kabouter's class seemed to have attended a superspreading event and the number of positive cases kept increasing. Although we all seemed fine, it felt better to keep ourselves far from all other people.

There was also snow predicted again beforehand so we decided to go to the east of Belgium again. Unfortunately the temperatures were just a bit too mild so instead of snow we got a weekend of rain like the rest of Belgium and the little white crust on the fields slowly disappeared.

I enjoyed the slowness of the weekend without any plans. It was very welcome. But by the end of the day I needed fresh air.  The rain scared off the boys who wanted to chill in their new pyjama's at home but I dressed up in all the rain gear I could find and got out. There's no bad weather but only bad clothes right?  So I went out for a swift walk through neighbour villages to get literally some fresh air, as well a wet suit.  I left in snow but got home in rain again.  And I didn't spot any deer as hoped while walking in dusk without children. They must have been hiding from the rain too.

As always the entire region gets in the Christmas spirit quite early and it was already the 2nd weekend that all villages had put up multiple small stables again.  You can make entire walks along the stables. It's quite lovely.
