Renovating the basement while improvising temporary offices in the bedrooms

We worked hard in December to empty the basement, and we moved on Christmas day old cupboards out that got moved to the east of Belgium. Funny how a lot of our furniture seems to have a life cycle starting in the west of the country (at our parent's homes and move via a stop in Ghent and Leuven, slowly to the east of Belgium).

We started the new year with piles of boxed up stuff in the basement, and a bit earlier than anticipated we learned that the works would start.  Another weekend of running up the stairs with all of those boxes, dumping them in all bedrooms and re-installing improvised small desks for us to work in those bedrooms, made the basement empty and ready for the workers.  It was very strange to see the 2 little underground rooms almost empty after more than 15 years.

My "docking station" cablework

My office got asylum in Beertje's room. We still negotiate about the rent to pay ;)

Jan smartly decided to move 2 floors lower

Past Monday, the workers moved in downstairs and started tackling a new floor first. The days after, the new cupboards started to make their appearance.   They couldn't complete all as planned (yeay for covid contaminated workers at home messing up plannings everywhere) but we can already admire our new future office space, including extra cupboards above our desks and a sliding door between Jan and my spot so we can hopefully isolate the sound of our many video call meetings better.

The cat is very curious about all changes

I'm looking forward of moving back downstairs at my new spot by the end of this month!
