A week at the pool

Now that the dark days have arrived and finally a bit of the cold as well, it seems already an ancient time ago that we were spending a week in the sun and cooling off in the pool.  But it's really only 3 weeks since we're back from Gran Canaria and our favourite pool.

This was the first time we installed ourselves by default at the adult pool and no longer at the kiddie's undeep splash pool.  While both boys still enjoyed their portion of jumping on the inflated balloon, it was also the first time both boys could swim in the big pool.

Often we were already out and installed while most people were still at the breakfast buffet and the balloon still had to get inflated.

For Beertje, the swimming in the big pools had to be under supervision still and he needed convincing by us to try to take his floaters off...my loud and repetitive speeching last summer about the safety risks of a pool must have still worn off because we knew he could already swim a short distance. So we encouraged him to try while we were near him.  And that paid off and after a few days he was swimming across with us.

I also absolutely adore the strictly enforced "no seat reservations".  There's truly sufficient seats but each morning (newly arrived?) people but some towels on some seats, after which they leave again.  Well if you try, you can go and search for your towels, cream, toys, books...whatever you left behind at the lifeguard.  No reservations in the morning allowed until 10 AM (because then sometimes you do want to walk around of course while leaving your seat behind).   And in this way, everyone can find a seat each day.

According to other Belgians , the pool water would be warmer than in Tenerife this time a year. I have no idea whether it was heated or just perfectly fine in this climate...it was just perfect to cool off when in the sun with a 28C outside.  Nothing better than such a week before a Belgian winter arrives...lots of vitamine D.  The children still get remarks on their tan and bleached hair colour.
