Tour de la Warche on the rotten boardwalk

It's not always easy to get the children out the door.  We limit their screen time, and they are whining to be bored and yet, usually they don't want to go for a walk.

On Saturday in the vacation week they all stayed inside due to the horrible weather but Kabouter made a promise to go walking with me on Sunday regardless any potential weather. And he was faithful to his promise.  As Beertje would be alone at home, he joined last minute as well, and they could choose the walk...very predictable they chose the all-time favourite and short "Tour de la Warche", which has been documented on this blog for a few dozen times already.

The start of the Lac de Robertville was euh...well just the Warche river and not yet much of a lake.  Unlike the current news of France and Italy it hasn't been exceptionally dry here?   It must be the 2 dams of Butgenbach and Robertville that regulate the Robertville lake that has let a great amount of water pass through.

Much to my relief, the source that was 100% dry all summer in the draught of 2022, was flowing happily again.

We descended to the Warche where the boardwalks had rotten again after another winter in the local climate. Somehow, all these boardwalks just can't be made weatherproof and need to be redone (bi)yearly which is a great investment not always done immediately.   It turned out to be a fun balance exercise for us that added to the fun.

We climbed the very steep hill in the woods and then returned down towards the Warche in order to head home.

Look, a squirrel has burried some nuts in this hole
