Rainy jungle walk

The last day of a vacation is always a hard one to fill. Suitcases need to be made, check out is done but this time we only had to be at the airport in the evening.  On top of that, our last day was pouring rain.

But that had one advantage...the tiny parking lots on the road traverssing Basse-Terre through the jungle were empty.  So we stopped and enjoyed 2 short walks in the pouring rain. That seemed appropriate when in the jungle. I was a bit hesitant to go walking in the rain with my knee that had not had much practise yet without brace, so we first double-checked at the info point whether they were flat levelled.

This snail was insanely massive

La Cascade aux écrevisses

This fall just a tiny hike away from the highway is usually very very busy with bathers. So we were blessed with this weather to get the opportunity to go and see it.

On the other side of the island, we drove back to a plantation that had been closed on our previous tour. Maybe we'd have more luck now. But we didn't: the plantation was open, but only for a guided tour that had left an hour before our arrival. We wandered around a bit at what looked like a deserted banana and sugar cane plantation and then headed on again.
