Hiking the High Fens at the Botrange with grandma

After our stay at the Belgian coast we returned to the Belgian heights at our east border and my mother came over for a visit.

We found for her a nice very typical walk to show the high fens in summer (as she used to hike them in winter time many decades ago).  We profited from the sun out without too much heat to walk and the heath flowers were blooming lovely.  Despite the summer vacation we were almost alone in the wide nature.

The heath in flower...I must admit I've not been in the fens before when they were flowering as much.

The wooden trails across the marshy fens between Mont Rigi and Baraque Michel

Since we were parked at Belgian's highest point, the end was a nasty climb that was underestimated but we deserved our local beer well!
