CIRKL

Mid - May the park next door was transformed yet again to a big festival site. This time the Leuven circus festival CIRKL had settled down and built up with multiple big tents and a camper park. 

Our weekend was filled to each minute and the boys had an incredible schedule with among other a judo tournament or 2 "lentefeesten" to attend etc.   They had quickly visited CIRKL with the babysitter when I was at the Rotary soirée chantante.  It's not like the noise allowed them to sleep before 10PM anyhow.  


On Sunday afternoon I found myself a few hours between dropping off and picking up children in Leuven to go and see some free performances myself. I had not booked any paying tickets as I didn't know if I'd make it to anything.  But having a festival next door is handy to just hop in and out as you wish.  


First I visited the circus village again where the students of the local circus school performed or gave workshops.

Then I attended this show in the burning sun outside the sports center.  6 acrobats on a pick-up truck show their acrobat climbing skills.
It started slow but they built up quickly and when we had thought they had showed it all, the truck started driving in circle between the public, while drivers switched all the time. Yikes.

Then I went to the Leuven artist Sien ...she brought a cord dancing act with so much humor, self-relativation and a hilarious outfit changes that brought a bit smile on my face. She shows all-round talent that I can appreciate. 

I also appreciate living in Europe where a clitoris song can be openly performed in a 7+ age performance :).  My children didn't pick that up (on Friday), but were a bit surprised by the armpit hair. 

I also want to give a big applause to the washing machine that was parked between the tents and campers all week and was happily turning and washing artists clothes on sun energy in the middle of the park.
