At Marktrock (part 2)

On our second day of Marktrock we were well positioned thanks to our early arrival for Dikke. So we watched the local news broadcasting next to us and then our current and former mayor arrived to announce Brihang.   Tobback was quite funny, joking that apparently everything came back in Leuven like Marktrock...that maybe an old mayor would come back too.

I don't know what to think of Brihang ... a bit of Brihang is ok but not too much or it becomes a bit whiny.  But I must admit that I appreciated his spontaneous down-to earth attitude on stage and his poetic texts.  I really enjoyed it. And then he stagejumped into the crowd to surf to a bar on the market to fetch a Stella.  Crazy cool.

Then it was time for Kat and Lyn Kerkhofs to arrive to announce the tribute band that would honor their dad who founded Marktrock. That tribute band was the reason I was looking forward most for Marktrock as it was a great combination of artists that I love very much.  In a way it was disappointing that they were all grouped because then they'd all perform briefly.

Then it was time for Daan, who arrived with his familiar bravoure. While all other artists praised Jokke Kerkhofs, he just repeated remarkably a lot "It's so great to be in Leuven".  He didn't sound always a strong vocally but was supported well by Isolde Lasoen who saved him.  I couldn't help to think he was high or drunk on stage. But he's such a performer.

And then it was time for even bigger performers: Bart Peeters and Ronny Mosuse. With their old RAdio's hits that are now brought in Dutch. (pity, I loved the nostalgie of the old songs in English but I understand why they don't do that anymore).
As true agitators they set the market on fire like no artist that weekend had done before.

The entire tribute band came on the sound of Housewife back on stage together with kids etc into one lovely energetic chaos.

After this great concert we left the market and skipped the headliner Nile Rodgers to go for dinner.  Oh well. The children were very tired but we just managed to get the last song from Sylvie Kreusch.
