Renewi race

The yearly cycling race in Leuven "GP Poeske Scherens"  has been integrated in the Renewi race as the final stage for the coming years.

Always fun to see a race closeby. After our friend Q scored an autograph by Mathieu Van Der Poel on his viola the day before in Maastricht, it was our turn to hit the road and see the pelleton come by.

We walked to the back of the station where we gasped at the main access road strangely empty for a while but then we heard the helicopter approach, the crazy driving car escorts in front of the race...and then the cyclists.

We quickly rushed back to the train station and through the pedestrian tunnel to arrive at the other side, to spot the race there who had to make a little loop...but we learned that their loop was much faster than our running. We just spotted the last cars in the station tunnel.

No worries, it was time for the x local loops before the  finish so we strolled downtown and positioned ourselves easily to watch the race come by another few times.  With the tv emission on our mobile phone and the typical "Rodaniaaaaa" sound that was back and the helicopters, we always knew exactly when the cyclers would come by.

Perfect weather so we could time when we'd skip out, go fetch an ice-cream and be back for the final lapse.

Congratulations to Arnaud De Lie to suprise everyone last minute and win the stage and the entire tour.
