The boys went scuba diving!!
Well I haven't used the diving tag on my blogposts for about 10 years but here it is again! After the boys had snorkelled so much in Guadeloupe and Kabouter had already done a little scuba diving summer camp in the pool, we had looked at the options at the Gran Canaria diving centre previous year.
Now Beertje has the age too to get an undeep "bubble maker" introduction, so Jan booked a refresh course dive for the both of us and then an introduction dive for Kabouter and a Bubble maker for Beertje.

Unfortunately, I had not prepared any of this before leaving for Gran Canaria and I couldn't show any medical proof that my diabetes medication is fine for diving. So I couldn't dive. Bummer. I had rehearsed the entire Open Water diving course theory, but now I could only snorkel. But safety first...always, so this was the right decision.
But it was pretty cool to set-up the scuba sets with the boys again, to fit in neoprene suits and see them gearing up. I sure have missed this.
Briefing time...

After some exercises at the beach, they were ready to go down ...Jan and Kabouter and an instructor together while another divemaster took Beertje along just below the surface, with me snorkelling behind them all. Both boys took the experience calmly and peddled along well, and they loved it very much.

Het deed me dan effectief wel echt iets om hen nu in duikequipment te zien met een grote smile.
