We keep on turning #wedraaiendoor: Tanya Tagaq - Tongues
Each Tuesday and Thursday Anne from Satur9's World and myself, play a musical pingpong game where we choose a new music song based on each other's previous choice by association of a name, style, lyric, style, location or whatever crosses in our mind. We never know what the next song will be chosen and are forced to explore beyond our comfort zone due to each other's choices.
You can find our in the mean time long and fun playlist on Spotify and op Youtube. Subscribing to it is possible!
We camp already a while in Australia. Anne posted with Yothu Yindi - Dots on the Shells , a very strong aboriginal link that touched me. When I think of first nations I am more familiar with North America, so I started looking up Cree artists or other indigenous bands. Either I found very folky folky music or just plain Rock music by indigenous artists. Until I found Tanya Tagaq who is is an Inuk throat singer. I know that Sami culture in northern Europe also desperately tries to keep the throat singing traditions alive. I was intrigued. So here is Tanya Tagaq with Tongues.
