Reconnecting with re-migrated toddler class friends
At the end of February we got an unexpected Whatsapp message. One of Kabouter's best friends in toddler classes with foreign roots, had migrated in 2019, but apparently had returned with his family to Leuven. After years in Taiwan and back in their home country Brasil, their parents had decided that Leuven was a better environment for their 3 sons to grow up as adolescents and take school. And so they returned and are now reintegrating with Dutch classes to refresh their forgotten language.
We met up on Wednesday afternoon after Kabouter's Easter exams. Despite Beertje not remembering actively his friend from pre-toddler class, he immediately also connected with his old-time friend. The 5 boys chatted off in English and installed some games while we ate a big pile of pancakes.

We caught some more fresh air and movement before calling it a day but I'm sure we'll hang out more frequently again.
