My mom's new windows
It had been a pain in her eye for many years: the windows in my mom's house were deteriorating quickly. The paint was bladdering strongly. While my mom had requested help to get it repainted frequently, I had vetood a big investment that would not make the wooden, mostly single pane windows more energy efficient.
So my sister took the time last winter to investigate an offer to get the windows entirely renewed. Of course that's more costly than just doing a paint job but it's worth it.
But we hesitated a lot: the project would have a big impact on my mom's life. The whole house would be invaded by the project for 10 days. My sister had been through it before and she realised that we'd have to move furniture and cover up for dus.
But we were optimistic in the spring and so we signed the contract.
Much to my frustration the works fell in our staycation which put a limit on how we could travel or what we could do. But to be honest...it would have probably been worse if I had been working or if I was still job hunting since those were busy times as well.
Anyhow my sister and her husband did most of the preperations while we were on the beach in the Panne and in between I came to cover my mom's room (the last room they tackled and first one that got the finishing touch) and the boys and I came for a clean-up frenzy where we vacuumed each room twice, uncovered all covers and washed all windows while searching for any possible little scratch.

And while the news is now back full with catastrophic predictions on gas reserves and prices for the winter, I am relieved to know that the house is more insulated now.
