Beertje's New Year's letter to his godfather
Since Beertje had to memorise a New Year's letter for the first time, we did our best to schedule a visit to his godfather a bit sooner than previous year, to ensure he remembered his little rhyme. We tried to practise it again this afternoon but our little smart ass pointed out repeatedly that we were not yet visiting his godfather so he had not to perform yet.
In the end, he first had to overcome a period of shyness before he could "read" his letter with my help. We also toasted to another day of succesfull potty training where he each time took initiative himself to go to the toilet. When he did...he raced so proudly back to the living room to announce his success when he crashed in the glass door, just like I did 2 years ago. After a round of crying and comforting and a refused ice pack, he seemed to be fine again sooner than I was 2 years ago. To be honest, he had already a bump on his forehead so it's hard to tell if it grew or not ;). Poor little fellow.

It was no surprise that after all the playing, the skipping a nap and the busy week full of changes and learning, he simply crashed asleep in the car and didn't wake up anymore in the transition to his bed including the change of clothes etc.
