A wintercold spring weekend

Spring seems to return now but how cold what last weekend? Crazy!  I've been whining of not having profited of the snow in the East of Belgium past winter, so I got treated with an extra last touch of snow over the last days.  Snow showers were predicted and indeed...the landscape got transformed white multiple times. It never lasted unfortunately, otherwise we would have accumulated a nice layer to go sledging.  Too bad. I didn't mind the snow to be honest and I was weirdly in a good mood while observing the white stuff with a big grin.

The icy wind prevented us from going for walks. Instead we cocooned nicely inside like true winter days. We baked waffles and made fresh soup and the visiting neighbour boy invited himself over for dinner, anticipating a waffle.

On Sunday the snow showers continued for a while but in the end the sun won the battle. Our construction entrepreneur came by for the offer we are debating over for over a year now to isolate our outer walls.  I think we finally made up our mind on the new materials we want to use, after doubting for months, so I'm pretty excited that we'll finally make this happen after all our delay.  Next winter we should stop heating the outside air through our too thin walls and the little house should look much more modern, yet natural in the regional style. Something to look forward too!

We launched ourselves in a big Spring cleaning and even the children were enthousiastic to be allowed to run around with a wet shammy or micro fiber cloth and dust all the furniture and edges they could find. I tend to hate cleaning activities but once in a while it can be energizing to see everything shine and glim again.

While we were washing the floors the children were banned outside where they could enjoy the return of the sun.  When everything was clean and we were all in need of rest, we drove back to Leuven with some napping chilren while Jan and I listened to Paris-Roubaix.  We were home just in time to see the final of the race and see Philippe Gilbert's victory. Super!

Despite the winter weather, it was a very rewarding weekend.
