Searching the source of the Warchenne

A long weekend, so lots of time to wander in the Easter weekend. I browsed the map with renewed walks again and convinced my men to try a new destination in town.  We decided to go and search for the source of the little Warchenne river, although we'd try to cut the designed itinerary a little short as it would be too challenging for the toddler legs.

We parked in the village near the RAVeL and the river that didn't look very impressive to the children...well it'll only get smaller.

We walked through field roads and passed now and then a bit of forest but not as much as I had hoped.

A break now and then and a cookie for the little ones kept them energised and motivated to keep going.

We discovered an animal skelleton along the road! super cool but we couldn't determine what it was. Jan figured a hare ...not sure.

We didn't cross the river at all but walked in a big circle around the fields and woods that would hold the source. That was a bit of a disappointment to us.  We figured that at this point the source of the Warchenne had to be.  Much cooler was that we spotted 4-6 deer in the valley bottom and a lower crawling animal at distance (a fox??).

When we crossed the RAVeL bikeroad , we took this one to cut the walk short with one or 2 kms.  It's always fun to find the old railroad attributes showing the history of these bike roads. At the old railroad station shelter, we were almost back at our car.
We also found some natural sculptures, apparently made by Emile Jacqmain , native to Faymonville and intrigued as a child by the busy Vehnbahn railroad crossing his town and the natural resources getting transported.

It was fun to discover a new walk but I had expected more natural beauty and less fields so it didn't entirely fulfill my expectations.
