We keep on turning #wedraaiendoor: U2 - Where the streets have no name

Each Tuesday and Thursday Anne from Satur9's World  play a musical pingpong game where we choose a new music song based on each other's previous choice by association of a name, style, lyric, style, location or whatever crosses in our mind.  We never know what the next song will be chosen and are forced to explore beyond our comfort zone due to each other's choices.

Placebo - Pure morning.
The title and group didn't ring a bell as such but of course I knew the song well. "A friend in need is a friend indeed, ..."

Purely base on title I had to think of Axelle Red with 'Ce Matin', but that would have been too much in contrest with Anne's link.

I had never seen the video and the scenes on the rooftop and suicide jump stuck around most. I wanted to post Herman Brood.  But I first found a video compilation of his version of "I did it my way" where there Hilton is prominently filmed.  And that was just too much. That combination...yes he did it his way but I didn't want to taste it so raw.

As alternative I considered Herman brood + Henny Vrienten - 'Als je wint' but that song sounds so much more like Doe Maar and Doe Maar came by here a couple of times already.

Funny link would be: Peter Koelewijn - Kom van dat dak af!

Or some suicide linked songs:

  • Evenescance - my immortal
  • Collective soul - the world I knew

But I wanted to get away from all the suicides, yet the rooftop in the video kept stirring in my mind. And that's how I ended up with U2's Where the streets have no name.

'k had in mijn hoofd dat U2 ooit op een dak gespeeld had, maar dacht een echt concert, niet opname clip.

Die intro van Where the streets have no name is één van de geweldigste intro's ooit. Los van het dak enzo :-)
