We have a 12 year old at home
September is the birth month of Kabouter so we had to celebrate a bit...not with big "childish" parties anymore but just with some cosy moments together and lots of love.
He really liked to have a cake, so I ensured we'd have cake to eat together, but I freaked everyone out all day at work because I had put the cake in the fridge with my car keys on top of it. Apparently that's not a habit in our company, as the entire day there were people searching the owner of the car keys that were left behind in the fridge.
For the occasion I walked with him together to school, anothre cosy moment together. And he got to wear his brand new school backpack.
We don't really know what high school traditions are for birthdays but in the weekend he decided he wanted to bake cookies for his classmates. I provided him with ingredients and he got to work with a bit of help from his brother. ...ha practical when they come at the age they arrange their own birthday hand-outs.
