We keep on turning #wedraaiendoor: Madonna - Borderline
Each Tuesday and Thursday Anne from Satur9's World and myself, play a musical pingpong game where we choose a new music song based on each other's previous choice by association of a name, style, lyric, style, location or whatever crosses in our mind. We never know what the next song will be chosen and are forced to explore beyond our comfort zone due to each other's choices.
You can find our in the mean time long and fun playlist on Spotify and op Youtube. Subscribing to it is possible!
Anne has yet again surprised me with a song that I don't know. That's the cool thing of our musical ping-pong: we introduce new music to each other that we'd not spontaneously discover.
so Ry Cooder with Across the Borderline.
I get a lot of images of refugees and surely there must be music about the problems of the last decennia with so many refugees.
First of all I think of the Fugees, whose name is a reference to refugees. Then there's also songs about borders.
- The Fugees - Ready or not
- Tame impala - Borderline
Then all of a sudden I think of Madonna. Not at all about the refugees theme I was looking for. But the song is a spot on association with Anne's song nevertheless and what a flashback to my childhood. 80ies outfits, big hair styles, mini play-back shows mimicking Madonna. (not by me though). Ha yeah, sorry a bit of nostalgia felt so good, so I'm sticking with Madonna. I might even play-back a little in my head now. Are you joining me?
