Count your blessings - November 2025
- A sunny week of vacation in Gran Canaria
- Jo Claes and Jodi Picoult books...some days of only reading. Only non-stop reading.
- Too much appetizers.
- The drones that disrupted our air traffic only the week after we flew back.
- Traffic works that disrupted my work commute for over 5 months, finally being over and finally having back the normal travel time
- Spending a day off with Beertje and hiking to the Baheyon cascade together at his request
- Our GP phoning on a holiday and sending Jan off to ER correctly.
- A squirrel visiting our little city garden in Leuven and playing around in front of our eyes
- Re-establishing contact with my Canadian host brother
- Having video calls with my Canadian host family and with a my Canadian and German relatives
- The nostalgia triggered by some Ringelings chips at work
- The physical feeling after cracking up in laughter after brainstorming reluctantly with team to tape a "mandatory" thank you end-of year video and then coming up with very silly ideas.
- Being able to follow a funeral of a Canadian friend via the internet.
- My new pale baggy jeans
- A beautiful frozen landscape
- Heated seats in the car
- A really nice yoga lesson (where I first doubted to skip the class but then went after all)
- Hanging out at Leuven by night with friends
- Hanging out with the other parents at judo
- Running into an old-time friend whom I've not seen anymore in 12 years and committing to reconnect.
This is a monthly list of simple things in my life that make me happy or that make me smile.
As the world often seems full of negativity and disaster, I want to pay attention to these small things that make me happy in my daily life and be grateful for them. You can find all of them via this link
