Puerto de Mogan again

We visited Puerto de Mogàn for the first time in autumn 2015 with baby Kabouter and highly pregnant by Beertje.  While staying in a hotel further inland of Gran Canaria, another parent with little children had recommended this beach bay that was very child-friendly without major waves and good amenities etc.

In 2016 a hotel opened in the valley where we have a high loyalty status and ...since then we've stayed in Puerto de Mogan for 8 vacations already.  It was for us the perfect lazy vacation spot full of the perfect infrastructure to be there with tiny children.  Last year we thought that we had outgrown the hotel since our children are now the age the shouldn't be in the kids splash pool anymore, neither participating in the kid's club.  (spoiler...they still did this year after all). We thought we might explore and find new vacation locations.

But our tradition was harder than we thought.  Despite saying "goodbye" to the hotel and the valley one year ago, we ended up booking the same trip again.  It's nice and relaxing to know what we'll get and fall in a stressless routine.

We love the hotel and the spacious multi-room familyrooms we tend to get and all the recreational options available (but also totally avoidable if not interested). There is sports & games, there are shows, but there are also quiet areas etc.

While the hotel is not at the beach, it sits next to a supermarket and tiny shopping centre and then connects via a wide walking boulevard for 1 km to the old town of Puerto de Mogan, the beach and the port.  Twice a week, there is a kilometers long market to visit.

Kids with phones become papparazzi...surprise shot

Not so much a surprise shot anymore

In the old town and backside of the beach boulevard we find some stores we really like to stroll at. Especially the ale-hop is our tourist trap where we almost every night go in and ...find something silly to buy because of course we do need that fun pair of socks or a ipad cable or a bit of stationary.  But it has also become my yearly stock-up for perfume. This year we enjoyed the discovery of this new nut store that is caremalizing live all kinds of nuts. Delicious.

This year we didn't spend any time at the beach because we visited another beach and because we were under water here. But the bay is cosy here, partially equipped with sunbeds.   Along the boulevard are tons of restaurants and bars and stores that give you a breathtaking sunset during dinner.

At the other side of the beach is the harbour area constructed in 1984 presenting views at day and night that are so Instagrammable. And the little streets hide some of our favourite restaurants.

I guess we'll be back again in the future. Maybe not each year but we'll see.
