Braving the rain for a walk through Heverlee with a friend

I try to catch up and meet with some local friends in Leuven now I have time on my hands.  And so I had noted a date in the calender to go for a walk with a friend from the diving club. But as it approached, the weather forecast looked rather horrendous with a big downpour that morning.

An hour before we'd get together she sent a message that maybe we also could play a game together and stay cosy at home. That seemed like a relief.

But then I walked up to her home and it really was only drizzling a bit. I was packed up in rain gear just to get to her and it all didn't seem so bad. The walk and the softer air had done me well.

And so I convinced her to do our walk anyhow.  We did. We went to Dwaaltuin near the Arenberg castle.  A network of twisted steel curls form a bit of a maze that allows many different types of climbing plants to grow.  It was the first time I got there and I was a little underwhelmed: the plants were currently at their bare minimum and the structure looks cooler from the drone areal pictures I've seen. But I am wondering what it'll be like if many more plants are growing and blooming.  I'm sure its a totally different feeling then.

Anyway, we studied the different plants until I feared I was pushing hte rain limits of my coat and then we decided to get back before we were entirely soaked. There's only so much drizzle you can take before getting totally wet.

We had another look at the Arenberg castle and then crossed Heverlee back home again.  I was pretty happy to arrive home in the heat and be able to pull on dry comfy clothes for the rest of the day. But I was also proud we had pushed through.
