We keep on turning #wekeeponturning: Ben & Rose - Slowly but surely
Each Tuesday and Thursday Anne from Satur9's World and myself, play a musical pingpong game where we choose a new music song based on each other's previous choice by association of a name, style, lyric, style, location or whatever crosses in our mind. We never know what the next song will be chosen and are forced to explore beyond our comfort zone due to each other's choices.
You can find our in the mean time long and fun playlist on Spotify and op Youtube. Subscribing to it is possible!
There are songs that are very thightly linked to movie scenes. Sam Cooke 's Wonderful World does that to me. If I hear the words "don't know much about..." I see Harrison Ford and Kelly Mc Gillis dancing in the hay barn in the spotlights of the old car in their Amish outfits. The tension is high, the confusion is there and you're holding your breath about what will happen next. There is so much forbidden sexual tension in the air but Harrison Ford's stays a gentleman and then the old Eli Lapp walks in and the tension implodes.
So I had to find an Amish song but then the Amish aren't so strong in making hug pop hits, are they? I looked for the film music but the music of Building the barn is probably too abstract if you don't know the movie and Weir Al Yankovic is too much of a parody.
- Maurice Jarre - Building the barn
- Weird Al Yankovic - Amish paradise
And then I found Ben & Rose, who are no parody at all. They sing beautifully in harmony as an Amish couple...so here are Ben & Rose.
