Connecting with the neighbours
End of May it was "The day of the Neighbours" and the city of Leuven sponsored some snack packages to invite neighbours over to meet and connect.
We had heard a head's up from some nearby neighbours that one further away we only visually know was going to organise and later there was indeed a little note in the mail. We decided to stay home for it as I find such initiatives really great. Living on a busy city center road it's hard enough to know your neighbours, but social cohesion is so important. In the last decade our street has seen a huge change of inhabitants with many houses getting renovated.
When we moved here, we were the only family with young children among many older inhabitants. Now our children become babysit age for a handful families with babies and toddlers further away if we see them coming in and out the houses with baby carriers.
Despite threatening rain that didn't come, it was a nice turn-out of some old familiar faces and a group of new families we met for the first time. Really quite nice.
