Let's jointly make Polio go extinct

Quite some weeks ago I joined Jan to his Rotary meeting since I was quite interested in the program. They had invited baron Prof. Pierre Van Damme, a well reputed epidemiologist and he'd talk about the WHO's program to eradicate Polio in the world. This Polio eradication has always been one of Rotary's biggest international missions too, so the link to invite him was very logical. 

While I know Polio is almost extinct, it was so interesting to learn about the wild and non-wild (due to "live vaccination") variants, the effect of vaccination, the development of "dead vaccination variants" and the test village that has been in Antwerp. And why a similar program for other infection diseases might or might not work.  

So so interesting. And so hopeful. Let's do this, thanks to WHO, Rotary and the Bill Gates Foundation.
