A paella party at friends

On Sunday we had a birthday party at our best friends. We all drove from the Ardennes towards Leuven. Miraculously the weather cleared up and it seemed like we'd be able to have our bbq after all. But our friends had a surprise: there was no BBQ but a true paella party.  A well-known paella chef came to prepare the delicacy in the garden and treated us with his historic stories on the rice history in Spain, the dish with puns towards recent politics in Belgium etc. Quite entertaining but a bit long if you just wanted to dig in.

The paella was excellent. 

For the rest of the evening we enjoyed the company of friends while all the children were playing all over the place.
