Hanging out with friends, defying the rain showers

Despite the whimsical long ascension weekend full of showers, we gladly accepted a friend's invite to stop by at their garden to order pizza's together.

We arrived a bit early because of Beertje's unstoppable enthousiasm to get going and hence we all decided to first go for a walk in the neighbourhood. Everyone ignored my ominous prediction of a big downpour during our walk and in the end the others were right: we got a bit wet but our rain jackets didn't get tested to their true capacity.   We even enjoyed a little ice cream during our walk, laughed at the dark clouds and visited a lovely historic mill/ brewery site.

When I had to go pick up Kabouter from his last Scouting session (and only 2nd this year), I optimistically left my jacket behind believing the shower line had now passed and we were in for some sunshine.
Yep, right, 10 minutes later I was racing with Kabouter in a downpour to get into the car as speedy as we could.

Back at our friend's garden, everyone was under their covered terrace admiring the double rainbow that appeared.

But we also got some sunshine and managed to have our pizza dinner, the adults outside under the covered terrace just to be sure and the children on the other side of the open sliding doors.  And so we managed to get a nice boost of some social contact in the extended weekend.
