At Blues Peer again
It had been 3 years but in May we picked up our old routine to go to the Blues festival in Peer again. We've been there a couple of times, it feels familiar even though we don't go every year at all.
The decision had just been made a couple of days before when we saw the nice weather and our free agenda (that previously had other plans). Then we noticed a good deal in Center Parcs and off we went. It was just Jan, Kabouter and me leaving because Beertje had already other plans due to our last minute decision but Jan would drive up and down to pick him up later in the weekend.
I had a rush day visiting my mom in day time, getting suitcases ready for everyone and shipping everyone in his right direction. But at dinner time we arrived smoothly at our cottage in Center Parcs and we quickly rushed by foot towards the festival domain to grab a bite. Our little road that we know by now was to our surprise packed with a hardly moving traffic jam of people going to the festival: road works and a car on fire further in town had sent them through this unusual route. I didn't pity them and was relieved we could walk them by in the hot hot sun.

We arrived well at the festival in the evening where we first went to grab a bite at the foodtruck corner and we already ran into our friends that are regular guests at the festival.
We chilled a bit in the hot summer evening and listened to some music from a distance mostly. Just relax, no obligations, nice!!
After a really lazy quiet morning at our cottage (nope I wasn't up for any activity just yet), and after Jan did the crazy drive up and down to go get Beertje, we were ready again to go and see more Blues mucisions. This time we had our rented bikes from the vacation park available and I truly enjoyed our little family bike ride towards the festival. Ha even more perfect than walking up and down the few kms between the festival and Center Parcs.
Much to my relief the field offered way more shadow than I had remembered from my memory and as a result we managed to stay comfortable in this early heat wave. We kept well hydrated and chill.
I went to see (part of) the concerts of Brushy one-string, Joanne Shaw Taylor (great girl power in that band!)
Seen from the moving crowd the main act of the day was Daan. Unlike last year at Marktrock I think he was performing sober, but he's a bit too arrogant to truly make a connection with the audience. I do love his music though and Isolde Lasoen is worth gold in his band!
After Eli Paperboy Reed and Jake Bugg the boys had had enough and we biked back to our cottage that Beertje had yet to discover.
