Leuven's first big waterfight

Mid June on a Wednesday afternoon, I walked Beertje in full swimming outfit downtown while carrying a water gun....we were on our way to Leuven's first big public water fight.  It was at the eve of the heat wave of hell so it was a perfect temperature to get wet, to actively move,  to dry, ...

The city had set up some water slides and an activity zone around a dancing water fountain.   There was supposed to be a little kid's zone seperately but the whole square was a chaotic crowd. Fortunately nobody was truly wild. While I had anticipated to get completely soaked (carrying a plastic bag full spare clothes),  the kids seemed to mostly aim at their friends and not soak and splash strangers.

Beertje quickly found several class mates and mingled in the fight.  Soon we saw them passing by soaking wet with a big smile.

The local press interviewed the group...unfortunately Beertje was visible in the final cut but his oral answer part was cut out.

After an hour of splashing, the kids wanted to dry in the sun while we parents were desperate for some shade and drinks.  We were then happy to call it a great afternoon and return home.
