We keep on turning #wedraaiendoor: Tracy Chapman - Before Easter

Each Tuesday and Thursday Anne from Satur9's World and myself, play a musical pingpong game where we choose a new music song based on each other's previous choice by association of a name, style, lyric, style, location or whatever crosses in our mind. We never know what the next song will be chosen and are forced to explore beyond our comfort zone due to each other's choices.

You can find our in the mean time long and fun playlist on Spotify and op Youtube. Subscribing to it is possible!

Anne chose Patti Smith on Tuesday.  Would it be too easy to just choose for The Smiths as a follow up?

To be honest, I didn't like Patti's song.  She has better songs. But I studied the lyrics about being lost, outside society, about Jesus...and my eye was struck by the album that features Rock&Roll nigger.  Easter...

Hmm we are in the 2nd week after Easter, which is still official the Easter period in the catholic religion. It is until 50 days after Easter when we celebrate Pentacost.  So an Easter song it would be

  • The Simple Minds : East at Easter
  • Ashley Henry & The RE: Ensemble - Easter
  • Frank Zappa: Watermelon in Easter Hay
  • Kodak Black - Easter in Miami
  • Tracy Chapman - Before Easter

Haha, wouldn't it be funny to post "Before Easter", after Easter. Some 'vijgen na Pasen' as we would say in Flemish.  And Tracy feels out of society too but she also sings about Jesus...perfect link to Patti Smith, so here we go.
