Count your blessings - December 2022
- Homemade pumpkinsoup
- Comfortable hats and scarfs when it's cold to cuddle up into
- Snoozing in my bed that is such a comfortable warm nest in the morning
- Exploring Brussels with the children and city tripping a bit closeby...something we don't do often enough
- Nice qualitative Sinterklaas visits (so much better than a video call!)
- Friends showing up to join a visit to the Leuven Christmas market
- Eating oysters
- Working for a company that spends 90% of it's profit to humanitarian causes...and getting a presentation by that by our founder's grandson as a reminder. Feeling proud and grateful to work for such a value-driven company
- (International) colleagues that have noticed you had a rough day and call in the evening to check in.
- Having a manager who does the same the next morning (knowing part of the rough day was because of a discussion with her)
- Setting up the Christmas tree at home and start feeling the holiday season
- Frozen grass and trees and some light sun that shines through the fog on that
- Friends that visit for an evening of sushi and a game of exploding kittens
- Organizing a successful #DuwMee edition again, seeing all the volunteers working their ass off in the freezing cold, seeing a good crowd walking in the cold and giving a grateful wink to Saskia up in the sky
- Going to yoga after weeks of absence even when it's not really the right moment...
but also weeks later, deciding to stay home and go to bed early and not force myself to go to yoga...it's all ok - Knowing I've visited my aunt in time and have visited her fairly recently before it was too late
- Gathering with my extended family for my aunt's funeral. Despite the sad occasion, it is good to gather.
- Making our friends really happy with Westvleteren presents
- Watching the Mr Bean Christmas special with the children who were just cracking up with laughter
- Finally returning to the east of Belgium for a couple of days of resting
- 2 weeks without plans in the agenda...bliss
- Playing board games with the children next to the Christmas tree and watching Home Alone sequals with popcorn
- Spending the morning in my new Christmas tree pyjama's
- Perdolan
- Bisque soup
This is a monthly list of simple things in my life that make me happy or that make me smile.
As the world often seems full of negativity and disaster, I want to pay attention to these small things that make me happy in my daily life and be grateful for them. You can find all of them via this link
