Reunion with my 4th host family

Vacation in Canada is not just vacation to us.  It's returning home. It is reconnecting with people that I hardly ever see but that I consider as family.

For the first time we had appointments in Victoria as my 4th Canadian host family had moved to Vancouver Island quite a while ago. Now that their summer residence at Kootenay Lake had been sold, they are on the island full time.  The importance of meeting again was the main reason I guess why I stressed so much on the road blocks at highway 4 because staying longer in Tofino was just not an option.
But we arrived in Victoria well in time, I had a nap to recover from my fatigue headache, we refreshed and we were ready to drive out to my family to spend dinner and an evening together.  I was so excited and nervous!

We arrived at their gorgeous spacious apartment where we gave each other much-needed reunion hugs. It was good to see Dave doing so well.  We talked about his health since he shares the same disease as my father had, so I am quite familiar with the challenges that it brings.
We could share memories and show the boys memories from his scrap book diary from my time living with them and my graduation in Canada.

After a lovely meal together, we went out to their neighbourhood and headed out for some game of minigolf together.

Great summer nights end to soon.  Too quickly it was time for goodbye.  We will meet again in a few years and we stay in touch.  Miss you.
