Sledging in our village in the east of Belgium
After spending a few days in Leuven with >10cm snow, my wish for snow in winter had already been quenched a bit. Nevertheless, we drove to the east of Belgium where there were only a few extra cms of snow, to have some snow fun.
This is what I hope for each winter...a nice cover of snow in the village, some sunshine, and then we head to the field next to the river to sledge down. Pure fun wintersport, right in our village. I love it.

All ski slopes or cross country tracks were open in the area but that's exactly when we wish to avoid the tourist hot spots that become a traffic nightmare.
Nothing of that all ...just pure bliss when walking with our sledges through town.
And then we have to take position on "our hill" where we're never alone on such days. But it wasn't as crowded as in the lockdown of 2021 when the tourist hotspots in the east of Belgium were forbidden for tourism and we all of a sudden had 40-50 people on our hill in our tiny village.
We found our spot where the bottom bump wasn't too heavy. While the crosscountry skiers of Weywertz passed above us, we started going downwards....and climb back up...and go down again. So much fun! Especially in this sun and blue sky.
Yes...this is what I hope for each winter...a few hours of this.

And then we are tired and wet and maybe a little bruised and it's time to walk home to get ready for some appetizers.
