A week without children is
- Donuts & chocolate buns that don't get eaten any more and need to get thrown out
- Plastic toys that are left behind in the sofa and the table and floor...but that stay out of the way once you've put them away. It's a non-recurring task.
- No hugs in the morning and at bedtime
- Carrying the responsibility to continue not only my but also their Duolingo streaks. So an overdose language exercises
- Going out for fancy dinners with Jan. Date-time for the parents.
- No dishes with lunch boxes
- The cat, who seems to feel a bit lost, miauws more
- Extra days before the dishwasher is full and needs to run
- One week without the annoying voices of Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon or other of those irritating child channels on TV.
- No clothes left behind at rather random places
- Toilets that are always flushed
- No silly faces
- Lots of silence in the house
- No interesting questions being asked
- Working until you want to stop working without any constraints of child activity hours.
- Sleeping in without the noise of awake morning children
- Sad empty rooms
- Empty table
- I need to check the cat's food bowl more
