Sinterklaas 2024

Last weeks were in the theme of Sinterklaas with a visit of the saint in the swim classes, in judo practise, in school and with some delay on Dec 7th on more time in Scouts.

It was the first year that they didn't try to put their shoe all the time before Dec 6th ... I think Sinterklaas and the Pieten were a bit surprised and had plenty of stock of candy so in the end I stimulated them a bit to put a shoe beforehand.  I also had to stimulate Kabouter to put out a wishlist for Sinterklaas who didn't like last minute suprises. I could habve a talk with him which he understood about the necessary logistics for the saint.
The fact that our Canadian relative was staying with us and could "feel the Sinterklaas" vibe once, was a bonus when they put out their shoes in the beginning of previous week.

They tried, got some candy and a letter from Sinterklaas which they read in eanesty.

And then came Dec 5th and Dec 6th.  Beertje had made good rules that nobody could have gone downstairs alone early in the morning but both boys rushed down just before 7 am.
Kabouter had to be a bit more patient since present Piet had forgot a present and would send it later by mail....I told you...the logistics of Sinterklaas are complicated so better.  The thing is that he understands now. He was relieved by the letter declaration if not, he admits he would have been a little disappointed. Now he just spent a major impatient weekend to see what was on its way.
Beertje was happily surprised the Saint had not delivered him a junior version of his marble track but the real one. He immediately started building...marble track and Lego.  Our living room was a big construction site.

the Squishmellow family that got enlarged

the gravitrax marble track seems pretty cool to build!

Some pretty awefull nerf outfit I dislike

It was the first time I had different conversations with one of the boys.  It was still fun but different.  We'll see how much magic happens next year.
