The Leuven Christmas market

Downtown Leuven is very cosy and atmospheric at Christmas time.  Since we discovered last year the Rotary stand with the delicious hot cocktails, we like to visit the market a couple of times.   I am really not a shopper, so apart from strolling once along all the stalls, I usually don't spend a lot of time on a Christmas market. Most stands seem predictable and repetitive.

This year the market had some additions that were quite atmospheric like the pyramid mill, the traditional carousel and turning Christmas tree ball carousel.   And our town hall is gorgeous as always.

We returned with our Texan Maastricht friends who had their mom visiting from the USA.  Glad that part of her Europe trip was visiting Leuven with us!

Most money spent on the Christmas market is food and drinks.

We spent quite some time at the Rotary stand again. In the meantime, Jan joined the club, so we actually both worked several hours to help man the stand as it is a requirement that the stands are open non-stop during the market opening hours. Quite a challenge for organizations that depend on volunteers.  We obviously also tested the hot cocktails and mocktails and approved.
