We keep on turning #wedraaiendoor : Laura Marling : The needle and the damage done
Each Tuesday and Thursday Anne from Satur9's World and myself, play a musical pingpong game where we choose a new music song based on each other's previous choice by association of a name, style, lyric, style, location or whatever crosses in our mind. We never know what the next song will be chosen and are forced to explore beyond our comfort zone due to each other's choices.
You can find our in the mean time long and fun playlist on Spotify and op Youtube. Subscribing to it is possible!
When Anne posted the Velvet Underground with Run Run Run I was first looking for literal running songs. Quite some that you can look up for the perfect beat to go running at the speed you require. But I'm not a runner so I thought I'd go for a walking song instead:
- Run D.M.C. - Walk this way
- Nancy Sinatra - These boots are made for walking
But I listened to the text...gypsy death, quite gloomy. I couldn't really ignore the clear heroïne and dark side of the song, could I. So I looked for another heroïne song.
I found this Neil Young song in different versions and Laura Marling's interpretation touched me most, so the stage is hers:
