The weekend of changed plans

The past weekend was supposed to be our "free" weekend to go to the East of Belgium. It had started snowing after our previous rainy weekend, obviously after, but not too much. While recently the rest of Belgium got a little bit of snow, nothing got added on Belgian's heights as it was freezing too much there.

Our plans got hijacked a bit by a birthday party invitation for Kabouter which we reluctantly accepted.  The plan was that Jan and Beertje would go ahead and I'd train with Kabouter on Saturday evening.

But both children had been ill and kept us awake on Thursday night, so we were all knackered and lazy by the end of the week.  There didn't seem to be very much snow. On the contrary : it seemed to be melting and rainy again so we decided it was not worthwhile to rush for a short 24h.

An hour after we decided not to go to the Ardennes, we got a text message: the birthday girl from the party was ill so the party invitation for Kabouter got postponed by one week.   So all of a sudden we were home on a rainy weekend without plans.

I contacted a friend that we urgently needed to catch up with and we made a date to go dog walking together on Sunday.  Guess what: on Sunday we got a text message to cancel that plan as well.   This weekend seemed doomed. Very very weird feeling.  I just hope that one of the coming weekends we get to go back to the Ardennes and hopefully enjoy some good sledging and walking in snow.  We'll see.

Oh well, so what happened then previous weekend instead of all cancellations? We cuddled in the sofa, we made Lego, we baked imaginary pancakes, we made puzzles and we visited the zoo again ..and I did piles of laundry, cleared my backlog of ironing, cleared a paper pile and added name tags in the children's most recent clothing.  The latter are all boring chores I hate to do, but I guess it's good they are done for now again.  For the remaining decluttering chore however was no more energy left.  Bummer ;).
