Tour de la Warche to search for daffodils

Jan had observed in some fields that the daffodils are out. The woods in East Belgium, a bit of Luxemburg and a bit of the Eifel are one of the only regions where wild daffodils grow in the woods.  Since they grow along the Warche on Kabouter's favourite walk, we did not have to ask the children twice to go out for a walk.

Even though Tour de la Warch is a bit of a trail with obstacles and a steep climb in the woods, Beertje was walking along like a champion, very motivated to find another tree to climb over with his little legs. In the past I've often done this walk with Kabouter on our own during one of Beertje's naps.  As such it became his favourite walk which he baptised the giant walk (not because of the length but because of the face he recognised in a fallen log tree). In the mean time he knows the itinerary well and is proud to take the lead and show us where to go.  Beertje tagged along and kept bravely walking at his own step-by-step pace much to our surprise.

The Warche river was swollen and impressively wild. Daffodils were indeed out on the edges near the waterfront.

On the return home, the energy had escaped Beertje and he started falling, refusing to get picked up, wanting to be carried, no wanting to walk himself, pick me up, I'm cold, .... you know the tired toddler fun.  But he did proclaim it was a fun wood :p.
